MySales for a terrible week

Obsidium Ore got very expensive this week, and I discovered that as much as I like to think I've "diversified", far too much of my gold-making is still tied up in shuffling ore. It was my first Darkmoon Faire, but I didn't profit a ton off of it because I don't feel super familiar with the market. I've still got a few single cards up. We'll see if they sell.

The Story of Wildvine: Correcting an Error

Several months back, when I was first getting into enchanting, I made a post in which I talked about selling Enchant Gloves - Minor Haste. This enchant is extremely powerful on very low level characters, and can be put on a pair of non-binding white-quality gloves and passed around to many alts. At the time I made the post, I was still thinking about the required materials (2 Large Radiant Shards, 2 Wildvine) in pre-Shattering terms, and felt they were fairly plentiful/cheap materials relative to the amount of gold for which I could sell the scrolls. This was a mistake.

Thorium Brotherhood Rep: Why you want it, and how to get it.

The Thorium Brotherhood is a faction from the original WoW game, and it used to be really tedious and expensive to get. Some people on Wowhead used to suggest that this rep should have been part of the Insane in the Membrane grind.

Treasure Potion Trash Dash

So, flux over at Power Word: Gold has issued challenge: Drink a potion of treasure finding, go kill stuff for an hour, then report back the vendor value of everything you looted in that time. (Not counting gold from humanoid mobs, but counting gold from tiny treasure chests.)

Formula: Enchant Weapon - Crusader

I can confirm (I looted it yesterday) that Formula: Enchant Weapon - Crusader is back in the game as of patch 4.1. It drops off of Scarlet Archmages in the Tyr's Hand region of Eastern Plaguelands. These mobs are no longer there if you have done the Tyr's Hand parts of the Eastern Plaguelands questchain, which means you won't be able to farm this on your achievement toon. The drop rate is still pretty low, so be prepared to settle in for the long haul if you're farming this yourself.

Skinning bug

Right now I am getting skill points from skinning mobs that are grey to my skinning skill level. (I'm up to Skinning ~~165~~ 200 from skinning level 5-9 Timberstriders on Azuremyst.) This information might be to your advantage.

Why I Love Azuremyst Isle

I love Azuremyst Isle. This is partially because my first character ever was a Draenei, so it's sort of the place where I know where everything is. I spent weeks slowly leveling through all the Azuremyst/Bloodmyst content when I was a wee noob, so it's very calming and homelike to me. I mean, for goodness' sake, I keep my bank alt in the Exodar.

The Vendor Shuffle
Yep. I don't do the full Obsidium Shuffle (my enchanter is too low level), I'm a "buy, cut, vendor" type. Since the information about the lowered vendor cost of gut uncommon gems on the PTR came out, I've actually been on one giant last hurrah of vendor shuffling Obsidium. This is not because I make sooo much gold shuffling 48g stacks of Obsidium or whatever, but that because I'm either making small amounts of gold, or, worst case, breaking even, on the uncommon quality gems, this is actually a source of essentially free rare-quality gems. I'm about half stockpiling and half cutting-AHing the rares I get.

Things to do while rep grinding

Some people collect mounts or companion pets, but I'm a rep grinding tabard collector. Right now I'm going back and working on a lot of the Burning Crusade dungeon reps. A lot of gold blogs talk about the ~gold-making mindset~. That means that even when you're doing things other than camping the auction house, you're thinking about how you could be making more gold while you're doing this. The really basic version of having a gold-making mindset is getting the biggest bags you can afford, setting up an alt just to do your banking, and turning on auto-loot.

We're pretty far into the first part of this expansion, and that means many of us are already Exalted or close to Exalted with the new Cataclysm reputations. This means that we might not need to do daily quests for Therazane, Wildhammer/Dragonmaw, Ramkahen, or Baradin's Wardens/Hellscream's Reach. While I highly recommend continuing to do some of these dailies (especially the ones for the Tol Barad faction you're allied with), like me, you may find yourself with room to do some extra dailies.
